FuboTV reaches $3.4M settlement in data privacy class action

FuboTV, a popular streaming platform, has reached a $3.4 million settlement in a class action lawsuit regarding data privacy violations. The lawsuit alleged that FuboTV Inc. and FuboTV Media Inc. unlawfully collected, stored, and distributed users’ personally identifiable information, violating federal and California privacy laws such as the Video Privacy Protection Act and the California Invasion of Privacy Act.

Consumers who had a FuboTV account or used another person’s account while residing in the United States or its territories on or before May 29, 2025, may be eligible to receive a cash payment from the settlement. To be eligible for the settlement, class members must have had an account with FuboTV or used someone else’s account before the specified date. The settlement aims to compensate users who were affected by the privacy violations.

The settlement provides for a standard pro rata cash payment for approved claimants outside of California. The final payment amount will depend on the number of claims filed. Additionally, class members from California who certify their location at the time of accessing FuboTV will receive a payment 1.1 times the standard cash payment received by others.

To claim a settlement payment, class members must submit a claim form before the deadline of Sept. 12, 2025. Claims can be filed online or by printing and mailing a PDF claim form to the settlement administrator. Required information includes the Notice ID from the official settlement notice, email addresses associated with the FuboTV account, the approximate dates of account creation and closure, and the years the claimant watched FuboTV content.

The $3.4 million settlement fund will cover administration costs, attorneys’ fees and expenses, service awards to class representatives, and payments to approved claimants. The settlement fund aims to compensate affected users while covering legal expenses and administrative costs associated with the lawsuit.

Key dates for the settlement include the opt-out/exclusion deadline of Aug. 28, 2025, the claim filing deadline of Sept. 12, 2025, and the final approval hearing on Oct. 6, 2025. Payments to approved claimants will be issued 60 days after the court grants final approval of the settlement or after claim processing is complete.

In conclusion, the FuboTV data privacy settlement addresses allegations of privacy violations and aims to compensate affected users for any harm caused. By reaching this settlement, FuboTV Inc. and FuboTV Media Inc. aim to resolve the legal dispute and avoid the expenses of ongoing litigation. Users who believe they are eligible for a settlement payment should submit their claim before the deadline to receive compensation for any potential privacy violations.
