Participate in Multiple Class Action Lawsuits like I Did, You Can Too

In April of this year, a settlement from a class action lawsuit led to a $40.67 payout from Mark Zuckerberg on Venmo. This wasn’t a personal payout from the Facebook CEO but rather a portion of the settlement from the “Facebook Internet Tracking Litigation.” Evidently, class action lawsuits are gaining momentum, with more Americans qualifying for payouts. Since January, I have received payouts ranging from $12.60 to $21.65, each from various class action settlements.

It seems that spending time on the internet increases the likelihood of encountering the world of class action lawsuits. A report from a defense attorney interest group revealed that in the previous year, class action settlements amounted to $42 billion, ranking as the third-highest in two decades, following settlements from 2022 and 2023. As corporate monopolies continue to proliferate, legal cases against tech giants will likely involve more claimants and larger settlements. While most people ignore ads about these lawsuits, dedicated individuals scour social media and legal websites for opportunities to claim their share of these settlements.

A significant development in 2018 shifted the mode of class action notice delivery to email, making it highly probable that individuals are already part of a class action lawsuit without realizing it. With various payout methods available, including Venmo, Zelle, paper checks, and direct deposit, claiming a portion of settlements has never been more accessible. Despite this convenience, a Federal Trade Commission study found that only 4 percent of eligible claimants actually make successful claims in class action lawsuits.

Data breaches and privacy violations have resulted in numerous class action lawsuits, with a surprisingly low rate of claims success. For instance, out of 250 million individuals affected by the Cambridge Analytica scandal, only 17 million valid claims were filed. Some recent cases surrounding social media addiction and product targeting of teens have also highlighted the need for more active participation in class action lawsuits to claim rightful compensations.

Individuals like April Phelps underscore the importance of vigilance in monitoring class action lawsuit updates. Phelps, a health care worker from Memphis, has diligently filed claims and received nearly $8,000 since 2023 through consistent tracking of postcards, emails, and online ads. Phelps’ dedication is mirrored by a 30,000-plus-member group on Facebook, facilitated by Top Class Actions, a news site that relays information on ongoing class actions and assists individuals in understanding claim eligibility.

From personal experience with class action lawsuits since 2016, I have actively pursued the opportunity to claim compensations from various settlements. Despite having no personal grievances against the companies involved, adherence to legal regulations and the opportunity to receive rightful compensations motivate my participation in class action lawsuits. A similar sentiment is echoed by Phelps, who emphasizes the importance of researching class actions and adhering to deadlines to claim substantial compensations. Ultimately, remaining alert and proactive are crucial in ensuring individuals receive due compensations from class action settlements.
