Nutriment Company’s Expansion in Germany through M&A Transaction
Sweden’s Nutriment Company continues to expand its reach in Germany with another strategic acquisition, this time taking over German private-label pet-food business Graf Barf from CDS Hackner. The financial details of this transaction remain undisclosed, but the move underscores Nutriment’s commitment to solidifying its presence in the natural, high-quality pet food segment.
This recent acquisition closely follows Nutriment’s purchase of BAF Petfood from German competitor Fressnapf just two months ago. Graf Barf specializes in raw pet food products, offering a diverse range of options such as complete meals, cube portions, and various formats. Their production facility is certified with an IFS, boasting human-grade standards.
By acquiring Graf Barf, Nutriment aims to expand its footprint in Germany, leveraging the existing market presence of brands like Barfgold, DIBO, Nutriment, and Aniforte. Furthermore, this acquisition serves as a strategic stepping stone for the company’s ambitions to venture into neighboring markets like Switzerland and Austria in the near future. Notably, the deal also includes a joint effort between Nutriment and CDS Hackner to establish a frozen logistics hub that will cater to mainland Europe.
Michael Hackner, the CEO, and owner of CDS Hackner expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating that their group is all set to become Nutriment Company’s central logistics hub for Europe from their Crailsheim location, dedicated to seamlessly integrating Graf BARF into the TNC brand portfolio and supporting its continuous growth.
Nutriment, headquartered in Stockholm and under the ownership of Nordic private equity firm Axcel, is renowned for its supply of natural premium pet food products. This recent acquisition of Graf Barf is the fifth one this year for the Nutriment Company, following successful takeovers of companies like UK-based Bulmer Pet Foods and Spain’s Puromenu earlier this year.
The aggressive acquisition strategy of Nutriment underscores its commitment to growth and expansion within the pet food industry, solidifying its position as a leading player in the natural pet food segment. The company’s focus on high-quality, natural products resonates with consumer preferences, positioning them for continued success in the market. With significant investments in expanding its reach and capabilities, Nutriment is poised for continued growth and success in the pet food market.
