Leading financial advisers for O&G M&A in Q1 2025: TD Securities and Evercore
D Securities and Evercore emerged as the leading financial advisers in the oil and gas (O&G) sector for the first quarter of 2025 (Q1 2025), according to GlobalData’s recent financial advisers league table.
TD Securities outshone its counterparts in terms of deal value, representing transactions totaling $10.4 billion. Evercore, on the other hand, stood out in the volume category with advisory roles in five deals.
GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose commented on the results, highlighting Evercore’s consistency by being the primary adviser by volume not only in Q1 2024 but also in Q1 2025. While Evercore secured the top spot in terms of volume, it also managed to secure the tenth position in value during Q1 2025.
Contrastingly, TD Securities, which dominated in deal value for Q1 2025, was not even among the top ten in the same period the previous year. Despite only advising on two deals in Q1 2025, one of them, the $10.4 billion Whitecap Resources-Veren merger deal, played a pivotal role in securing TD Securities’ top position by value.
In terms of deal value, Bank of Nova Scotia, BMO Capital Markets, and National Bank of Canada shared the second spot, each advising on a $10.4 billion deal. RBC Capital Markets followed closely with $6.5 billion worth of deals. Concerning deal volume, RBC Capital Markets claimed the second position with four deals, matching JP Morgan and Perella Weinberg Partners, which also advised on four deals each.
GlobalData’s league tables rely on real-time tracking of numerous company and advisory firm websites. An expert team of analysts diligently monitors these sources to gather detailed information on each deal, including the names of the advisers involved. To enhance the data’s robustness, the company also accepts submissions of deals from prominent advisers.
In conclusion, TD Securities and Evercore’s dominance as the top financial advisers for O&G mergers and acquisitions in Q1 2025 showcases the dynamic nature of the industry. The strategic advisory roles played by these firms in major deals underscore their expertise and influence in the sector. It will be interesting to see how their positions may evolve in the coming quarters, considering the ever-changing landscape of the O&G sector and the broader financial market.
