Federal Minister emphasizes accountability for Imran Khan’s actions
Federal Minister for Public Affairs Unit, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, recently voiced his perspective on the former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s accountability for his actions. In his address at a press conference in Lahore, Rana Mubashir highlighted the government’s stance of not seeking revenge or orchestrating the arrest of political rivals, contrasting it with Imran Khan’s alleged unforgiving nature towards others.
Emphasizing the stabilizing efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration, the minister reflected on the challenging state of the country’s economy and diplomatic relations at the onset of the current government’s tenure. He commended the significant improvements witnessed in Pakistan’s foreign policy owing to concerted endeavors.
On the subject of provincial governance, Rana Mubashir criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly denouncing their actions on May 9. He denounced PTI for allegedly perpetrating attacks on military installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ), and inciting arson in cantonment areas, citing the detrimental impact of these actions on the nation.
In terms of economic progress under the incumbent government, the minister asserted a drastic reduction in inflation from 38% to 1.6%. He lauded enhanced performance of national institutions and diminishing losses in the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). Notably, he underscored Pakistan’s advancements in Asia towards economic revival and underscored the absence of corruption scandals during the current regime.
Additionally, Rana Mubashir announced the provision of a Ramadan relief package to four million individuals for public welfare initiatives. He criticized the alleged economic mismanagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under PTI’s administration. Addressing development projects, he questioned PTI’s claims regarding tree plantations and housing schemes, contrasting them with the government’s efforts to ensure economic stability and bolster Pakistan’s global standing.
Regarding national security, the minister affirmed the government’s dedication to combatting terrorism and safeguarding the nation. He linked the upsurge in terrorist incidents to past decisions by PTI’s leadership. Prominently, Rana Mubashir elaborated on the government’s economic reforms aimed at stabilizing essential commodity prices and reducing electricity costs through solar energy initiatives.
Conclusively, while advocating for Pakistan’s sovereignty in making independent decisions, the minister reiterated the administration’s commitment to pursuing economic and security reforms without succumbing to vindictiveness. Nonetheless, he stated that Imran Khan must confront the repercussions of his previous conduct, mirroring the government’s stance on accountability and responsibility.
