Jupiter responds to allegations of insider trading in LIBRA token launch
Jupiter Exchange has recently responded to accusations of insider trading and favoritism in the launch of the LIBRA token associated with Argentinian President Javier Milei.
In a comprehensive statement shared on social media, the Jupiter team refuted any direct involvement in the initial transactions of the token. The team clarified that they were introduced to the project through Kelsier Ventures approximately two weeks before its official launch.
However, Jupiter asserted that they were unaware of the specific timing, launch date, or contract address related to LIBRA. They confirmed that they did not perform any pre-verification or instant verification of the token’s contract address. Verification was only conducted after the token received public validation from Milei’s official account and garnered significant trading volume.
By the time LIBRA was added to Jupiter’s Strict List, a feature intended to safeguard users against fraudulent tokens, the token had already achieved a market capitalization of around $1.5 billion. An hour following its launch, LIBRA was granted a “Verified” designation in Jupiter’s default token search.
Addressing concerns of insider trading, Jupiter explicitly stated that no team members had received LIBRA tokens or any form of compensation associated with them. An internal inquiry conducted by the exchange found no evidence of team members engaging in sniping or trading based on non-public information.
To ensure greater transparency and fairness in future token launches, Jupiter disclosed plans to implement enhanced verification mechanisms, including the introduction of an Organic Score. This scoring system aims to evaluate a token’s legitimacy based on on-chain activities rather than manual verification processes.
In conclusion, Jupiter’s response to the allegations regarding the LIBRA token launch reflects their commitment to upholding integrity and fairness within the cryptocurrency space. By addressing these concerns transparently and announcing measures to enhance verification processes, Jupiter aims to maintain trust with its users and the broader cryptocurrency community.
